After Torres del Paine Cerro Castillo is the symbol of the Aisén Region and the most recognized mountain of Chilean Patagonia because it is not only a dominant and spectacular massif in the surrounding landscape but also challenges the mountaineer with a difficult ascent wherever attempted. In 1966, four Chileans promoted it the first time to the northwest face from the New Zealand camp, now called Chile, which remains the Walkers’ preferred route. In Patagonia it sends the weather, you don’t have to forget it. The long traverse to the top can be entertaining or reckless depending on the weather. Rock needles and glaciers at the top of the massif are an impressive natural spectacle that culminates with the round view from the summit, a panoramic look at all the mountains of the Region and if you choose to live it, it will also be the most starry night.
