The center of Atacama or Likanantay culture was San Pedro de Atacama, drawn in colonial times and built entirely with adobe. Today it enjoys prestige as the Archaeological Capital of Chile and a tourist center throughout the region. The nearby Valley of the Moon, declared a Sanctuary of Nature, surprises with its whimsical natural formations some similar to sculptures while death valley impresses with its reddish total aridity. The pre-Hispanic village of Socaire, of about 500 inhabitants, is presented in sight not as a village but rather as a sucession of farmed terraces. One of the most beautiful places in the whole plateau, not to be doubted, is the salt flat of Talar and Kapur. Also the miscanti and Miñiques lagoons, at 4200m high, provoke the ineffable feeling of encounter with oneself in the vastness of the landscape. When you arrive tired in the afternoon to the oasis of Toconao you can enjoy various fruits and vegetables at ease. The ascent to the 5450 m high Lascar volcano offers the grandiose spectacle of the sacred mountains that surround it: LejÃa, Chilliques, Tumisa, Pili and others. Talabre and his petroglyphs! And its traditional artisanal atacameños fabrics. From here you can see the llullaillaco with its 6739 m high located on the Chile-Argentina boundary. An image not to forget.

It was really comfortable. Interesting experience. Visiting the Atacama Desert, and its attractions, volcanoes, Geisers. Then the trip to Vi a del March and Valparaiso was amazing. Formality
Documentation for travelling to Chile
If you are a tourist, the documentation for traveling to Chile is the ID card, ID card or passport. In International Police you must present these documents, in addition to the stamped visa (depending on the country of origin).
Police International provides at the time of entering Chile a duplicate form called “Tourism Card” and lasts 90 days, extendable for another 90 days.
Requirements for travelling to Chile by car from mendoza
All foreign tourists traveling to Chile by land must enter by customs border crossings between Chile and Argentina, must fill out a unique form for the “Departure and Temporary Admission of Vehicles” (Chilean-Argentine Agreement).
For Argentine tourists the driver’s license granted in their country is valid, but they must have insurance for foreign vehicles entering Chile, which is required by Chilean law for any vehicle with foreign license plates.
There are two companies in Chile that offer insurance and where you can quote the value:
What requirements are needed to enter Chile with a minor?
A) If you are travelling with your parents:
- ID passport of the country of origin.
- Birth certificate.
B) If you are travelling with only one parent:
- ID passport of the country of origin.
- Birth certificate with three simple photocopies
- Notarized authorization of the parent who does not travel by handing over his consent, in original and three copies.
C) If the minor does not travel with his/her parents:
- ID passport of the country of origin.
- Birth certificate with three simple photocopies
- Notarized authorization of the parent who does not travel by handing over his consent, in original and three copies.
- Death certificate in case of death of parents in original and three copies.
- Authorization of the applicable Family Court, giving consent for the child’s travel, in original and three simple photocopies
