Also called Monte Cochrane in Chile is the second height of the Patagonian Andes, 3700 meters above sea level, after Valentine’s Day and its summit marks the Chilean-Argentine border. Located at the southern end of the Northern Ice Field it was first promoted in 1943 by the patagonian priest and explorer Alberto de Agostini who warned of the irregular forms of the massif that made it difficult to find a possible route. The approach takes place from the Aisenine city of Cochrane and the ascent of moderate difficulty reaches the Agostini camp from which the summit that rewards the mountaineer is conquered with a broad look at the Argentine pampas and the dismembered geography of Chile. The San Lorenzo hill has permanent snows at its top while the slopes of its slopes support abundant mountain vegetation.
