Four days of excursions in Cerro Castillo National Park are a special opportunity to understand why Patagonia attracts people from all over the world. Unique ecosystems, endemic species of flora and fauna, wondering landscapes, challenging mountains. All this is also in the old Lake Jeinimeni National Reserve today integrated into Patagonia National Park, less well known but emulating Cerro Castillo in a ugly nature. From Rio Tranquilo port through the Valley of river Exploradores to the area called “Elefantes”, a look is offered to the desolate glacial areas in which the San Rafael lagoon was formed. And back to the villa Rio Tranquilo there is time to visit the Marble Cathedrals. In the village of Cochrane next to the lake of the same name we are already in the Province of Glaciers and we prepare the four-day excursion to the Massif of San Lorenzo, 3,700 meters above sea level on the Chilean-Argentine border, highly recommended among climbers and no less by simple hikers. The last stage starts at Villa OHiggins. A barge takes us to the village Candelario Mancilla where we start an excursion to Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, guardians of those plains, and passing through desert lagoon takes us to the village of Chaltén in Los Glaciares National Park. In El Calafate, a visit to the imposing Perito Moreno glacier is well worth it before embarking on a return on route 40 to Puerto Natales……
