Mixing intense colors of desert, mountains and ice, this is the ideal excursion for photography, wildlife observation and approach to Licanantay or Atacameña culture whose center is the village of Toconao, notable for its architecture and its church, National Monument. Socaire, at 3500 meters above sea level, is a friendly highland village of about 400 inhabitants mounted on a marked slope, recognized fruit and agricultural producer. The local community manages the neighboring Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons, the most visited in Atacama for their remarkable natural and landscape attractions. The Salt Flats of Talar and the nearby Tuyato Lagoon are home to the curious landscape of the Red Stones where water erosion and oxidation of the iron ores of the land have produced a singular contrast of reddish colors.
