From the old lake that was the Salar de Atacama in geological eras subtract today these Baltinache lagoons and are said to be a new wonder of the many that Atacama has. They are an hour from San Pedro de Atacama that we well know is the center of all adventure tourism in Northern Chile. There are seven small lagoons whose turquoise waters contrast with the white background of the Salt Range creating a landscape that could well be described as unreal or surreal. The waters of these lagoons contain very high concentrations of salts, so much so that the bodies float without sinking. The Moon VALLEY owes its name to the lunar aspect of its landscape of ochre, reddish, yellowish colors and the thick roughness of the surface in which millennial erosion has sculpted curious figures and whimsical shapes that will amaze the visitor.
