In the heart of the Domeyko mountain range is the archaeological site of Yerbas Buenas. This place shows varied petroglyphs representing llamas, monkeys and dogs, testimonies of the ancient indigenous caravans that from beyond los Andes reached the coast passing through the Rainbow Valley. Here the landscape exhibits a whole palette of reddish, ochre, greenish, whitish and yellow colors that are due to the different proportions of mineral salts and clays of the terrain. A gift from nature for contemplation. Next, the visit to Rio Grande with its stone houses and thatched roofs characterizes a typical highland village stopped at the time where lively ancestral traditions and customs endure. Once back, in the Valley of Mars or Death it is necessary to stop to contemplate an unprecedented sunset over the Cordillera.
