BOLIVIA

The pride of andean lovers and all the Bolivians

On the eastern edge of Bolivia’s great plateau, southeast of Lake Titicaca, stands majestic the Cordillera Real that some called “the Himalayas of the New World” because it undoubtedly lives up to its name as Royal.

This massif about 125 km long presents a succession of granite peaks whose cusp is the top of the Illimani, 6,438 meters above sea level, which is accompanied by a courtship of seven six thousand and more than twenty five thousand. It seems strange but the mountain range has numerous glaciers although it is located just 17 degrees south of the equator, which is explained by its proximity to the Amazon rainforest and its large masses of moisture-laden air.

In the Nevado Condoriri or “Head of Condor”( 5,648 meters above sea level) shows all the symbolic beauty of the three peaks that form it representing a condor with the wings deployed. And the Nevado Illampu together with the Ancahuma make up a single and extensive dominant massif in the Cordillera Real.

In Aymara culture summits are shrines where the guardian spirits who protect their people reside and therefore receive veneration and offerings.
